Missions Beyond Borders (external link)
Joey an mine’s story is a neat one. We met on the internet by way of Missionary Blogs. I found myself reading an article from his site that had appeared in my feed reader, and went to his home page to leave a comment. When I got there, however, I saw that his header graphic was a picture of the town of Mae Sai, the very town I had in my heart to go to on my next trip to Thailand! Through much emailing, and a year of waiting, Joey and I became good friends.
Joey is a Filipino missionary living in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, Thailand. He and his wife, Narlin, and their three children, Jared, Jillian, and Reuven, have lived in Thailand for more than four years, and have just recently returned home for the first time. These guys have a tender heart for the lost souls of neighboring Burma, and they selflessly share the love of God with everyone they meet.
Joey met me at the Mae Sai bus station when I arrived and gave me a ride into town, and it’s been a wonderful relationship ever since. We ended up working quite a bit together; I even got to lead praise and worship in the church they attend. And, Joey carries the honor of officially being the first person I met in “meat-world” after having initially met them online!
