My morning walk has been a little cooler, lately. Not that I’m complaining; I’ll just wear a long-sleeved shirt tomorrow. But it’s interesting to see how I react to the change. For the record, I welcome the nice weather heartily. It’s been a long, hot summer, and the cool breeze of autumn is like a breath of fresh air. But to find myself almost complaining about how cold it is in the mornings came as quite a shock. Granted, we’re talking 5:30 am, here.
Humans are inherently uncomfortable. We tend to complain when things don’t go exactly our way. But even if things do end up gong our way, we’ll find something to whine about. We’re not satisfied with anything. Okay, maybe you’re not like that at all. But I notice these characteristics in myself at times. Lately, though, I’ve taken an offensive against this mindset. It’s time to grow up.
My pastor has recently been preaching about spiritual growth. The thing is, nowadays we’ve got 30-year-old babies, 50-year-old babies, 70-year-old babies … People mature physically, but they never grow up. They get an adult body, but they still act like they’re twelve. So I’ve decided to change.
Here lately I’ve been keeping close tabs on my responses to situations, and the recent “cold snap” is no exception. This morning as I was walking, I was sure to thank God for the cooler weather, knowing good and well that in the upcoming months the temperature will be bitterly cold, and we’ll all be longing for the warm sunshine of summer.

Okay, so maybe I was wrong about the “bitterly cold” part! ;o)
