I first ran into this book at LifeWay in December. I was shopping with my mom for Christmas presents, and I was nearly finished with my entire list. We spent a pretty good amount of time in the store, perusing all their offerings. I found whole categories of books I’d never seen there before. But it was the columnar display of golden books which caught my eye, and after reading the back cover of Voices of the Faithful, I was elated to be holding it! I knew this was going to be my book. I quickly located my mother and informed her I had found exactly what I wanted from her for Christmas. I was even more delighted when she promptly placed it in her basket.

I’ve just finished reading a book by “Brother Yun” (Liu Zhenying) entitled The Heavenly Man. It is a story of hardship, trial, affliction, persecution, suffering … all for the cause of Christ. Beginning near the end of his story, and then going back all the way to the initial introduction of the Gospel to modern-day China, Yun describes in vivid detail how his own life has been riddled with torture at the hand of the Chinese government. It is a story you won’t soon forget.
When I was nine years old God spoke to me in a time of prayer and told me, “I want you to be a missionary to China.” This was the first time I audibly heard the voice of God. From that day on I have set forth to obey the command of God to go to China. My entire thrust has been in that direction, actively seeking the plan of God every step of the way. That is what led me to Thailand, to train further for that day when I will finally enter China and serve as a missionary, carrying the Cross of Christ to that land.
I suppose that is what many missionaries think, that God is waiting for the “Bamboo Curtain” to fall before sending in the flood of missionaries. And that may well happen; there probably will be a mighty thrust of the Gospel into Asia if Communism falls. But God hasn’t waited for it. In fact, He’s been working in Asia for over one hundred years already. Behind closed borders the Gospel is spreading like wildfire.

I’ve got my fill of cute for at least a week or so. I just got through watching National Geographic’s March of the Penguins on Hallmark. I never knew the basic struggle to survive that these animals go through. And I was quite impressed with the effort the cinematographers put forth to produce this movie. I can’t imagine the personal sacrifice they made to get these shots, and over the course of thirteen months in one of the most inhospitable climes on Earth. March of the Penguins is great for a group of friends. But don’t forget your tissue; some parts are kind of sad.

I guess I never used Flock to its greatest extent. While posting about one of my BlogDay 2006 submissions this week, I found yet another article about Flock. That seems to be going around a lot, lately. A year ago, all the blog submissions about Flock were of how terrible this new, wannabe-Firefox browser was. But that was then. In the last two months there has been a flurry of activity in the Blogdom about the little browser that could … and all of it that I’ve read has been positive to the nth degree.
But not much has changed about Flock since a year ago, except for the addition of numerous extensions and added stability. Why, then, was everyone so adamantly opposed to this newcomer? Mainly, because it was different. From my personal experience, I had grown accustomed to the layout of Firefox. I knew how the browser worked, and I knew where to find changes I wanted to make. But Flock was different. Not better or worse, per se, just different. Most people don’t like change, particularly if there’s no foreseeable advantage. But that is exactly why there have been so many posts about Flock recently. People are finally starting to discover the advantages of this browser.

I found this site while searching for a WordPress plugin. I needed something to list the plugins I use here for my colophon. What I found was Viper’s Plugins Used. But I also found a great site to hang out on. Plenty of awesome movies, and a host of geekish posts about Battlefield 2. This one is now on my “regulars” list.
