Perhaps I should enable all the footers my sundry anti-spam plugins can display. I just opened my dashboard and noticed a message from Akismet that I had received a new spam message. I actually get amused reading these, because these guys actually think their comment stands a significant chance at making it to my blog.

I was modifying my login form today when I noticed something quite strange. I’ve always been wary of dishing out my email address, having been the recipient of quite enough spam. And whenever I find some way to further obfuscate said email address, I jump on the opportunity. That’s why I installed the contact form; I didn’t want spambots harvesting my address and sending me letters about c1al3s. I’m 26; I don’t need the stuff.
As much as I like my current email address, it will probably have to be chunked, eventually. It’s so nifty, but I’m getting too much spam at that address. And that’s the curious thing; I never put my address out there for harvesters to read, I never use it in places where it might be read, I never even use it to send mail to folks I don’t trust not to send me unwanted petitions and cute pictures and such. Yet somehow it’s getting leaked.

The next installment in my “Minima” series of themes is finished. I know, I’ve been using this theme for quite a while, and no theme is ever really “finished,” but it’s mature enough now for a write-up. It runs on a similar platform as Minima Code Block, using the same Object-Oriented approach. I’ve still got to do a few aesthetic changes to make it semantic and accessible. But, I’ve come so very far with this theme, and I just had to tell you about it.

I guess I never used Flock to its greatest extent. While posting about one of my BlogDay 2006 submissions this week, I found yet another article about Flock. That seems to be going around a lot, lately. A year ago, all the blog submissions about Flock were of how terrible this new, wannabe-Firefox browser was. But that was then. In the last two months there has been a flurry of activity in the Blogdom about the little browser that could … and all of it that I’ve read has been positive to the nth degree.
But not much has changed about Flock since a year ago, except for the addition of numerous extensions and added stability. Why, then, was everyone so adamantly opposed to this newcomer? Mainly, because it was different. From my personal experience, I had grown accustomed to the layout of Firefox. I knew how the browser worked, and I knew where to find changes I wanted to make. But Flock was different. Not better or worse, per se, just different. Most people don’t like change, particularly if there’s no foreseeable advantage. But that is exactly why there have been so many posts about Flock recently. People are finally starting to discover the advantages of this browser.

I found this site while searching for a WordPress plugin. I needed something to list the plugins I use here for my colophon. What I found was Viper’s Plugins Used. But I also found a great site to hang out on. Plenty of awesome movies, and a host of geekish posts about Battlefield 2. This one is now on my “regulars” list.
