Is This Guy Serious?

This shouldn’t even be called spam; we need a new name for it

Perhaps I should enable all the footers my sundry anti-spam plugins can display. I just opened my dashboard and noticed a message from Akismet that I had received a new spam message. I actually get amused reading these, because these guys actually think their comment stands a significant chance at making it to my blog.

Defeating comment spam is a constant battle for the webmaster of a blog, but it doesn’t have to be a chore. Look at it this way: you know you’ve already won. So laugh about it. :o) Especially when you get comments like this one. It had 99 links in it. I say had, because it lived for an extremely short time.

A recent spam harvest by Spam Karma 2; the karma of this particular spam comment was -3708.5!

−3708.5?! That’s the worst “karma” I’ve ever seen on a spam comment. For reference, most of the ones I get are around −20 to −30. What was this guy thinking?

The story was probably jacked, but was nonetheless a fun read.

But it included an interesting story. :o)

With Bad Behavior I almost never get to read the really funny spams. They just never appear in the first place. Oh well… :)

Yeah, and that’s all your fault, by the way. :o)

Thanks for the awesome plugin, Michael. We’d all be sitting ducks without guys like you.

Oh, it was a great read. Too bad it was a mashup of good literature and bad advertising! I still wonder who they ripped it off of.
