Tim has released two WordPress themes designed specifically for churches. The first theme is basically a blog, with the front page being used to show upcoming events, announcements, and perhaps lessons from the Pastor or an associate. The second one is aimed more towards smaller congregations who wish to create a site that is basically static. Both are completely changeable, so you’re not locked into one design. From the first page you can find links to churches that are using the theme.

I feel that WordPress is the perfect platform for creating relevant church websites because it’s so easy to use and customize to make it look the way you want it to look. And it’s easy to update, too; almost any computer-literate member of a church staff can add new content using the built-in WordPress dashboard. You just log in and type your post. It’s as easy as sending an E-Mail.
The problem with most church websites is they are outdated and completely non-semantic. These two things alone can keep a site from being found on the web. And the whole purpose for having a church website is so people can find you. Using a publishing platform such as WordPress can remedy these problems, all while opening your congregation to a new generation of harvest with our youth. You’ll definitely get cool points when you tell them your church has a blog. Many thanks to Tim for producing these two great themes.
