An Akha Village

My first look into the lives of the Akha people

13 February 2010, 09:00

We went to an Akha village one afternoon with some of the kids from the youth group. We traveled in the back of the church’s pickup truck, after going over what we’d do at the church. On the way there, I snapped this picture of the village, situated precariously on the hillside. The Akha have lived this way for centuries, building huts of bamboo and grass, elevating them on stilts so they have a level floor. Not much has changed in the way the Akha do things.
