Born To Serve The Lord

A beautiful song of dedication

24 January 2010, 09:00

Both I and the missionary from Taiwan took some time to teach English classes at Mrs. Wong’s church, and one of the things he did was teach them a song. I’d never heard this song before, and he says it was written by Korean missionaries. I really liked it a lot, and even sang it for the congregation in Mae Sai toward the end of my trip. Here are the Lyrics:

From the dust of the earth
My God created man
His breath made man
A living soul

And God so loved the world
That He gave His only Son
And that is why
I love Him so

I was made in His likeness
Created in His image
For I was born
To serve the Lord

And I can’t deny Him
I’ll always walk beside Him
For I was born
To serve the Lord

  1. I love this song. We used to sing it in Church years ago, but we also sang this verse, “My hands were made to serve in His kingdom. My eyes were made to read God’s Word. My feet were made to walk in Jesus’ footsteps. My body is the temple of the Lord”.

Cool! Thanks for adding it! I didn’t know it had more to it; I had never heard it before this trip. Do I have any of the first part wrong?

  3. What you have written sounds right to me as I remember it. I’m not much of a music fan, but I love beautiful songs that truly glorify the Lord. Are you a missionary?

  7. We sang this when I was a kid. I heard greater vision sing it and it brought back such memories. I do wish that there was an accompaniment tape for it. God bless your work.

I keep hearing that! I feel like I missed out. This was my first time even hearing the song, and it was so beautiful! It still speaks to me, and in my quiet time I often play it on my guitar before praying.
