Geeking out again
26 February 2010, 09:00I told you the other day that I’m a bit of a writing utensil geek. Writing my monthly newsletter is one of the joys of my heart. Sure, it’s lengthy and sometimes laborious. But it’s fun. I guess you could label me an idealist. But it’s not about the nostalgia; it’s personal. I’ve got a thing for hand-written mail, mainly because it’s not as stark and cold as an email.
So toward the end of every month, I get to buy new supplies and rough out my letter. On our last trip to Tesco Lotus, I bought a pad of paper (which had a beautiful lavender hue to it) and a new mechanical pencil. The pencil was special, because the lead is rectangular for practicing calligraphy. It left a beautiful line, and I tested it out on my new paper. You may not care, but I thought it was neat. Plus, I had to prove to you that I actually can write legibly if I try hard enough. At least I spared you the dozens of other shots I took of the paper, the pencil, and so forth.
